Lord, I have a problem; I have something to say.
I've been putting off talking to you, but long overdue is this day.
As You know, I've tried for a long time to be the answer to my own problems,
But here and now, O Lord, I surrender to You.....
Please teach me to pray.
I'm suffering, my God, you see I've always tried to be the one,
To be the solution to my own problems even when I'm 'under the gun'.
Having realized that, alone, my hill is much too steep to climb,
And I'm told You hear all the prayers of mankind.
...O Lord, I need to speak to you;
.........I have nowhere else to run !
Looks like there's nothing I can do without one other than You,
'O Lord, please teach me to pray.'
What else can I do ?....What else can I say ?
'O Lord, teach me to pray.'
The Bible tells me to make my petitions in faith,
Offering my requests believing the answers already received.
Abba Father, right now my faith is kind of weak,
But I'll do my best as your guidance I seek;
At the moment, that's about all I can say.
I want to look to you to be the One,
To be the final solution to my problems;
To lead me through the only true way.
On this day, I humbly request in the name of your Son:
....'....O Lord, please teach me to pray.'
I now believe there's no problem I can undo with anyone but You;
'My Lord, teach me to pray.'
Here today, I decide...please wipe the tears from my eyes;
'My Lord, please teach me to pray.'

One of my favorite bumper stickers says "Fight like a man-get on your knees and pray". I've uttered this prayer myself many times and have never come up empty handed. I firmly believe that it's in those dark times where our God does his best work. It should be every Christian's desire to learn how to pray.
