Looking outside this morning at the gentle but steady rain falling on the trees and grass in the back yard, you could almost see each blade and leaf reaching up and out to receive the cool, refreshing drops.
The rain cleans the air as it falls, putting to rest all the pollen and dust, and the soothing wetness soaks deep into the soil, and what you see then is a fresh-washed world...and it reminds me of our love.
When we first met, I was like that backyard just before then rain...there was greenery there, and plants, for Jesus had transformed my heart-desert into a place of green growing through His grace.
Ah, but the Lord in His wisdom, knew just what was needed to make that new heart flourish as He intended.
He knew it needed love - but not just yet.
First the ground needed to be prepared, to be ready to accept - the plants needed to be set in just the right places to burst into luxurious bloom - and so my heart and I waited.... at last trusting in God's timing.
Then came the day when I met you, and clouds of joy formed over my world, and gently came the drops falling down, silver drops of love all around.
Oh, how afraid I was at first, not believing this could be true, but the gentle rain continued, till I knew that it had to be true.
Your love is like those silver drops of rain, and they fill my heart every day, the joy and happiness that they bring is more than words can ever say.
I thank God with joy and thanksgiving for giving me this gift so rare, for spreading a rainbow of grace over my rain-soaked heart, for this love that He's given us to share.
My backyard stays green, it’s replenished every day with the rain of love sparkling like dew, and the joy and love I gather up and doubled, return it to you.
