When you came into this world with bright eyes full of light I wonder what the wisemen thought that silent, holy night. Did they know within an instant the great splendor of who you are? Did their hearts well up with joy as they followed that glorious star?
Did they know that the tiny king they came to worship was the Lord come to live among all men so that he could save the world? Did they fall upon their knees in humble praise at Heaven's Child? I wonder what the wisemen thought of the baby they found sleeping, disguised as God.
When you learned to walk and giggle in the way that children do, I wonder if your mother was always amazed by you. Did your little hands grab hold of hers as you walked among the streets, not frightened in the slightest of all the people you would meet?
Did she know that the son she raised would someday rise from death and that you would come back as before to dry the tears she wept?
Did she know the son she loved so much would have to leave, giving his life to a sinful world, so desperately in need? I wonder what was going through her mind that magical Christmas day? Did she have any idea her son was born to take all sin away?
Did the wisemen know what people today can't quite seem to undestand? God came to earth as a small child and died a sinless man. I wonder if the wisemen knew what that first Christmas really meant? A tiny baby born to die was God's great gift to men.
