Pray a little harder
When the world won't go your way
Though your dreams it seems you've bartered
And your plans have gone astray
Pray a little louder
When it seems you walk alone
And your mind calls you a doubter
But your heart tells you atone
Pray a little longer
As the dice of life are thrown
Let each trial make you stronger
As each seed of faith is sewn
Pray a little deeper
As you find each heavy load
Takes you on a path much steeper
Than you thought you'd have to go
Pray a little wiser
As the life you thought you'd known
Finds no nearby sympathizer
As you dodge each well-cast stone
Pray a little clearer
As the world would tell you lies
And your soul becomes a mirror
To a world of compromise
Pray a little meeker
As you feel you've lost your way
Like some troubled hide-and-seeker
In a game that can't be played
Pray a little higher
When your heart is full and sad
And each days seems a decider
To be more especially bad
Pray a little praiseful
As this life has got you pinned
And you'd like to be so faithful
But your life is filled with sin
Pray a little harder
For it's surely not in vain
Just remember Christ was martyred
So that we may live again
