Oh to be just a leaf
And to fly on the wings of the wind
To rise up on high
And into the arms of God.
I would dance, and flutter, and spin
Dip, and spiral, and start all over again.
To blow with joy to Heaven's highest heights,
On the frostiest morning, or the hottest of nights.
With my new Home in sight
I'd bid this world goodbye,
Then up, up and into the arms of God
I'd fly.
Bound by earth and time,
Yet longing to be free
I grabbed the wings of the wind
As it swept through the trees.
Letting go of all that went before,
Into the guilded sky I soar
No more to touch that old green sod-
I gently drift into the arms of God.
