As Christians, it is our duty to show a difference to the world so that the ‘Christ’ within us is seen. How do we make a difference? What difference do we make? Being different means ‘to be unlike or distinct in nature, form, or characteristic or opposite opinion.’ Making a difference is a choice that we all have the ability to do, whether we do it or not is another story. How can we show a difference in our environments (the places we go other than our home)? The job is a good example; with the Holy Spirit living within us we have the ability to change the atmosphere of things. It’s not done with a ‘bo-garding spirit of us being holier than Thou!’ Because God said in Jeremiah 31:3
“…With everlasting love, and with loving kindness have I drawn you to Me.” We don’t impress others when we wear a ‘7 x7 cross and carry our bible constantly in view!’ We take our example from Christ, who made Himself of ‘no reputation’ but with a meek and humble spirit He affected the lives of so many. It is our life and lifestyle as a Christian that will make a difference in our environments; the light of Christ living within us will affect others with conviction and bring change. We shouldn’t worry about when the change is going to happen, our responsibility is to be consistent in what we show them. Our mission for our environments is
two-fold, we want to change the secular atmosphere where we are and we want to take advantage of our opportunity to draw them to Christ.
