Everything that we have came from God. What do you have that wasn't given you by God? Apart from God, we can do nothing. Apart from God, we have no abilities. Some people say, "I was born with this ability". God does put certain graces upon us when we are born that we have before we become Christians, but if God removed that grace, you would no longer have that ability.
Phil 2:5 Let this same attitude and purpose and [humble] mind be in you which was in Christ Jesus: [Let Him be your example in humility:]
Even Jesus when He preached, or healed someone, or did a sign and a wonder, said, "I only do what I see my Father doing." Are we greater than our Master? Are we greater than our Lord, and Teacher? The student is not above his teacher. If Jesus gave all credit to the Father, saying everything He had came from Him, than who are we to think we are something all by ourselves.
Paul said this:
For I resolved to know nothing (to be acquainted with nothing, to make a display of the knowledge of nothing, and to be conscious of nothing) among you except Jesus Christ (the Messiah) and Him crucified.
In yourself, you have nothing, and you are nothing.
1Cor 4:7 For who separates you from the others [as a faction leader]? [Who makes you superior and sets you apart from another, giving you the preeminence?] What have you that was not given to you? If then you received it [from someone], why do you boast as if you had not received [but had gained it by your own efforts]?
I can't preach on my own. I can't write articles on my own. I've tried it. Nothing happens. LOL I couldn't write this article on my own. I have been studying Keith Moore's teaching on pride and humility, and I thought I love this teaching. I can teach this. Ha, ha, it wasn't near as easy as I thought it would be. I gathered my scriptures together and pasted them here, and then went to write….. and nothing. LOL. I got nothing!! I said, "God, I can't preach this, unless You preach it with me. I am nothing without You. I'm only a preacher when You preach what you want to say to these people, through me." Then the words began to come.
I'm a vessel that God uses to bless people, and that's all I am. I am nothing on my own. I can do all things through HIM, and only through Him. I cant' do anything on my own. Have you ever wondered how you can breathe? You can't breathe on your own. If God pulled the plug on our breathing, or if He took all the air out of the earth, we would all drop dead. We can't even breathe without Him. Your body has natural healing power, like if you cut yourself, it will heal. But, if God took that natural healing power away, your body would cease to heal itself, and you would get an infection and die. LOL God makes the whole world spin. He keeps the sun from crashing into us. He keeps the seas inside their banks, so they don’t overflow. It's all God.
Being humble is recognizing that God is God, and I can do nothing unless He is doing it with me, and through me. No preacher who has a healing ministry is anything on his or her own. They can't heal anyone. It's God Who does the healing. They are merely the vessel He uses to get it done. If He withheld His anointing and power, they couldn't heal a fly. LOL
Caroline cant' get anyone healed on her own. Caroline cant' deliver anyone from fear or depression on her own.. It's God who does the work. I'm merely His helper. That's all I am. Don't get me wrong. God needs us. But, the first test we have to pass to be used by God, is Who is doing the work? You or Him? If you say you, than He will have to work on you, and with you to get the pride out. If you say Him, than He has a vessel who is ready to be used of Him. We have to always give Him the glory when someone gets healed because of our ministry. We didn't heal anyone. We allowed God to use us, and work through us.
God does share His glory with us. When we give Him all the glory, He gives part of the glory to us. But, if we get pride in us when He shares His glory, He won't do it again, until we get humble. As long as we stay humble, always giving all the glory to Him, He will lift us up, and share His glory.
Keith Moore says everyone has pride. Every day we have to deal with pride. We have to make a decision to give God all the credit for everything that we do, because we did it with His help. We didn’t do it by ourselves.
Prov 11:2 When swelling and pride come, then emptiness and shame come also, but with the humble (those who are lowly, who have been pruned or chiseled by trial, and renounce self) are skillful and godly Wisdom and soundness.
Prov 29:23 A man's pride will bring him low, but he who is of a humble spirit will obtain honor.
1. Humble means Marked by meekness or modesty in behavior, attitude, or spirit; not arrogant or prideful.
Humility is a lack of false pride.
1. Pride that comes from the dark side is Arrogant or disdainful conduct or treatment; haughtiness.
2 An excessively high opinion of oneself; conceit.
Matt 23:12 Whoever exalts himself [with haughtiness and empty pride] shall be humbled (brought low), and whoever humbles himself [whoever has a modest opinion of himself and behaves accordingly] shall be raised to honor.
Rom 3:27 Then what becomes of [our] pride and [our] boasting? It is excluded (banished, ruled out entirely). On what principle? [On the principle] of doing good deeds? No, but on the principle of faith.
1John 2:16b … the pride of life [assurance in one's own resources or in the stability of earthly things]--these do not come from the Father but are from the world [itself].
God will not share His glory with us. Whatever we've done, all glory goes to God. Pride in us wants the glory of God. If we say we are humble, we will not think of God's glory that we want a share of. All of our righteousness are flirty rags. God will not share with us what is rightfully His.
I so agree with your article Caroline. None of us can receive anything unless it has first been given to us from God! (Phil.2:13-for it is God who WORKS in you BOTH to WILL and TO DO for HIS GOOD PLEASURE.) He does share His glory with us at times, that the world may know that the Father sent Him and so He sends US. (smile) What a wonderful Savior we serve. Blessings, Sharon
