He takes every advantage that we allow him, to creep in and cause havoc and destruction. He stalks his prey as a roaring lion. The Word reminds us, “Be self controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8)
He whispers to the children to seek their own way and rebell against their parents. He is in disobedience, pride, envy and all kinds of evil. We must not give way to the world and the desires of the flesh. He gave up everything so that we could be free from this kind of bondage (Gal. 5:1). We cannot allow ourselves to be burdened once again by the yoke of slavery. We are children of the King, bought with a price and purchased with the precious blood of the Spotless Lamb.
The mind is his battlefield as we wrestle against powers, principalities and rulers of darkness (Eph. 6:12). It is time to take back lost ground. Rebound sisters and brothers. He can only have the authority and power that we allow him. We have the same power that raised Christ from the dead at our disposal. We must access it to defeat the enemy.
“The weapons we fight with are not of this world. On the contrary, they have divine power to DEMOLISH strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ” (2 Cor. 10 4-5).
We cannot allow the enemy to shake our faith, as we are to be fully rooted in Him. He has established us and we are to stand in the power of His might. It sounds easy enough, but we are to be filled with His power and Spirit. We must tell the enemy that the buck stops here! We will not allow him to continue to distress our homes. There is no room for him in a Christian home.
To Him who is able to do immeasurably more than we think or ask be all power and glory now and forever. Amen
Not by might, nor by power, but by MY SPIRIT, saith the Lord. Greater is HE who is in you than he who is in this world. Yes, we war with principalities... and put them beneath our feet because we are blood-bought and given the authority to do exactly that... (if I could only stress the following enough)... ...BUT BY MY SPIRIT, SAITH THE LORD.
When Satan had no qualms about attempting to steal the Eternal One's throne, is it any wonder he would try to devastate ours? How right you are, Mitzi. The battle ground is, indeed, the mind...a mind we are called to not conform to this world, but to renew and transform into the mind of Christ. Thank you for the timely reminder. We are surrounded throughout each day by messages of 'conformity.' May the Almighty power and Spirit of God gain the victory today in our own lives.
It truly appears satan is stepping up his game, doesn’t it? I honestly believe he knows his days are numbered and that, that figure is growing smaller with each passing sun. Your forceful commentary has reminded me of an analogy Dr. Barnhouse gave his daughter on the way to his wife's (her mother's) funeral.
The little girl could not understand why God had taken away her Mommy. The sage Doctor, for once, was at a loss as to how to answer the inquiry of his mourning child. As the funeral procession had paused, he looked out the window to see the shadow of a truck outlined on the pavement. It was then, he received his answer. He asked the precious child, what she would rather be struck with the truck or its shadow. "Oh Daddy, of course I would want the shadow to strike me." "Well, sweetheart, that is what Jesus allowed, when he died on the cross. He took the blow of the truck so that we might only have to collide with the shadow.
While, the great orator, was obviously speaking of death, it is, noteworthy to recognize that the same holy power that conquered death also allows us the strength to overcome the truckload of lies and temptations that satan tries to hit us with, often in rapid succession. In the might of the Almighty we are able to swerve when necessary and avoid both the vehicle and the shadow. PTL!! Mitzi, you are standing, armed with that very power. Your words of victory make the evil one, cringe and repel. May we all learn a lesson from this insightful article. - Nancy
Mitzi, The three comments above are very well stated and I just want to add my agreement with theirs. Greater is He that is within us than he that is in the world. Now…that’s something to shout about!!! You are loved, precious one.
Mitzi - I have a slightly different view - a view from an Easter perspective. Satan's realm is death and Christ has been victorious over death. Satan has been defeated. Christ is alive and He lives inside you, His precious one. Your salvation is assured. You have been given life eternal. I say again, Christ is Alive!!! Sing Hallelujahs each and everyday as He brings new life, new hope, and new inspiration into your life. Darkness has no power over the Risen Lord. Fear, worry, anxiety, and dread can be cast aside. The kingdom of Heaven is at hand. Christ is Alive!!
Amen Mitzi, we are TO STAND in the power of His might and resist the enemy. Or He will indeed wreck our homes, our faith etc. It is sometimes so easy to forget that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, for Satan likes to hide there using whoever, and whatever to attack us. This article is a wonderful reminder of how important it is to pray God's covering over our familys everyday as we battle the spirit of the world and its influences. PTL! The Word tells us, "Whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith. (1 John 5:4)
