I asked the Lord for peace of mind
He told me what to do
Take my eyes off of myself
And place them upon you
So many prideful, selfish thoughts
Build up within my head
I will tear down those wicked walls
And build you up instead
My eyes are always searching
For someone to mistrust
I shall borrow Jesusí eyes
To see you as He must
Iíll not dismiss your angry words
By turning you away
I instead will listen close
For what youíre trying to say
I do not need to take offense
When we do not agree
Contrary to my nature
I will choose diplomacy
I will strengthen in His spirit
Not by power, nor by might
For I am among those chosen
To distribute salt and light
