I remember last summer we went into the jewelry store - not to buy, for there is nothing there that holds any allure, the only rings I ever want are already on my fingers, given from you to me as tokens of the love we share.
We went to see if they could clean up these rings, for with time the sparkle had grown dim, you could no longer see the rainbow colors, flashing their lights from within.
They cleaned them with liquid and then with short bursts of steam, and all the daily grit and grime melted away, leaving the stones in their settings like brand new, so fresh, sparkling and clean.
I asked how could I keep them from becoming that way again.... to retain that sparkle and keep the dirt and dust from settling back in..... and I was given a small jar of liquid to put them in and let them soak each morning for a little time, and was told that's all it takes to keep them brand new, to keep the sparkle and shine.
And it reminded me of our love.... that we discovered like a diamond two years ago this spring, a gem beyond worth, and as a daily remembrance, you gave me a ring.
I wear it always, just as our love is always in my heart, and each day I tend to it, so we'll never grow apart.
Every morning I give our love and all we are into God's hands to tend, to keep it safe each day, to give it sparkle anew, the kind that only He can send.
I soak our love in His Word, polishing it with prayer, brushing away all the small hurts and discouragements of the day.... keeping the sparkle brand new, the rainbow lights flashing from within, its beauty so wondrous that it catches my breath away.
Love needs to be tended, to be nurtured each day so that it's beauty will always shine true...and there is such joy in that tending, to see our love grow, to make new discoveries each day I spend with you.
