Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. This verse is located in Proverbs 22:15(King James Version).
When I was still a child, drawing and painting arts are my natural hobbies. My crayons were often torn off or lost due to my frequent use.Soon my mother resisted on buying me a new one because of my carelessness. Yet how could I forbid from doing it, in fact, that thing seems to be always persistent on my mind.
One day, my mom ordered me to get her handkerchief beneath her cabinet. Accidentally, I noticed a coin with just an amount of one peso($1) dropped down beneath her paraphernalias. Suddenly I thought of stealing the coin to buy an 8-colored crayon just enough for its cost.
After going back from school, my sister secretly opened my bag and amazed why I had a new crayon inside. She asked me in deep surprise"Ahhaa! you stole money from mommy's pocket, and then bought something".My face turned pale, with both hands shaking as I whispered to her"Please keep quiet, don't tell
mommy about this,it's just my first time to steal her coin, I won't do it anymore".
My sister ignored my request and straightly told mother about my secret. Our mother become so angry at me,got the broomstick somewhere along the corner of the living room and bet me and urged me to admit my mistakes, to ask forgiveness to God and her,and warned me not to do it again. Since that time, I did not dare to steal anymore till my whole life.
In Proverbs 23:13-14(King James Version) it says"Withhold not correction from the child, for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shall deliver his soul from hell". It is so biblical to discipline our children to lead them to the right path until
such time they become old enough to stand for themselves alone. Let them study the word of God. We all know in II Timothy 3:16-17(King James Version),
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works".
The scripture also says in Proverbs 22:6(King James Version)"Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it".
