I'd just got through paying my last dollar (to the dollar!) to keep insurance on a car with a window that doesn't roll up and was on my way home when sprinkles started dotting my windshield. My driver license expired on the 16th of March. I've got a ticket that has to be paid by the 23rd. (Note today's date.) And money isn't the least of my concerns. No, my concerns have been elsewhere... the same place they've been since... I forgot how long.
I sat there in that insurance office and looked up at the pictures on the shelf behind the agent's desk while she worked my case. "God keeps His promises." I'd just come from the bank and had exactly $73.00 in my hand. "That'll be $73.00."
I made it home before I got soaked. But within a couple of miles from home, I noticed a beautiful rainbow. I just love rainbows! I was considering the insurance office incident and the rainbow... "God keeps His promises." Hmm... That just goes a little deeper than just "I shall supply all your needs through My riches and glory." Doesn't it?
Then the rainbow started to fade. I almost heard: "Just because you don't see the evidence of My promises to you does not mean that I don't intend to make good on them. I keep my promises! FAITH IS the substance of things hoped for, the EVIDENCE of things not seen. You believe I meet your needs. Believe I will fulfill every promise that I ever promised you. The faith I give to you IS your evidence."
Wow! Wow! Wow!
But it wasn’t just the fact that He promised to meet my financial needs and my personal desires. See, that rainbow seemed to have been put there by the Almighty for me as even a promise to fill my spiritual desires. (‘Poetry... A Glory Tree’) Right on time, He sees the whole picture. He will not only fulfill all my needs -- finances, shelter, food, water... and my personal desires -- love, family, friends, health... but He’ll also fulfill my spiritual desires -- “...so the breeze that touches those who find solace in my shade covers them in rainbow mist from this glory tree You’ve made.”
Friends who read my work regularly, I sincerely hope you’ll enjoy your “rainbow mist.” God keeps His promises!
And the coolest thing about the whole incident to me is that it wasn't the first sign in the heavens for me. It was the second. The first was many months ago... I don't remember how long.
Upon studying the Word when I got home, the Lord confirmed that what I "almost heard" was definitely that "still, small voice" that I needed to be listening to.
Delight yourself in the Lord!
Jeremiah 14:22 Are there any among the vanities of the Gentiles that can cause rain? or can the heavens give showers? (Jeremiah 10:13a When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens.) art not thou he, O LORD our God? therefore we will wait upon thee: for thou hast made all these things.
Daniel 4:3 How great are his signs! and how mighty are his wonders! his kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation. (“...from generation to generation.” Hmm... He doesn’t change. Does He? From generation to generation, He’s the same. Yesterday, today and forever, His signs are STILL great. His wonders are STILL mighty. Faith...)
I Samuel 10:6-7 And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man. And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, that thou do as occasion serve thee; for God is with thee.
Psalm 25:2-4 O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me. Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause. Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.
Psalm 27:13-14 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
I will wait on the things the Lord promised me that I would personally obtain... IN THE LAND OF THE LIVING. And I will do so...
Honored to relish the rainbow mist. When I gaze into His glory, I can hardly see the turmoil anymore. It is all about focus and faith. I am persuaded that He is able to keep ALL that I have committed unto him.
