What do you see said the sparrow
Why do you ask answered the wren
I see the night that follows dusk
It hovers around the bend in the sun
It lingers like lace
It melts like ice
It feels like frost
What do you see said the sparrow
Why do you ask answered the wren
I see a flock of geese
Furling their wings
Flinging their talons into deep wooded weeds
They look so ominous
They sound so loud
I flee from their presence
Who do you see said the sparrow
Why do you ask answered the wren
I see the hand that reaches toward me
To offer sweet seed in the winter
To press fiery heat into my skin when
I tremble in terror
To lift me up
