“What is prayer?”
asked the little one of her young mother.
“Prayer is talking to God, my sweet one,”
replied the wise mother.
“Prayer is communion with God.
It’s like being in the same as room as Jesus is in
and sitting at His feet
and asking Him questions.
Can you see it, my little one?
Prayer is being told when you have done something wrong
and then being forgiven for every bad thing.
Prayer is being told what you need to do next
when everything is all confused and nothing
seems like the right thing to do.
Prayer is a way to clear your thoughts of all ugly
words and pictures.
It is a way to start a new day right
in the middle of a sad afternoon.
It is a way to be alert and awake when
you’re sleepy and grumpy.
Prayer is a way to never be alone – ever!
It is the only way to find out if you are doing
the right thing, at the right place, and
at the right time.
Prayer is the way to see the world as Jesus
sees the world
and to sit at His feet
and to hear Him say,
‘I love you,
my little one!””
