Deuteronomy 2:7 "God, your God, has blessed you in everything you have done. He has guarded you in your travels through this immense wilderness….God, your God, has been right here with you. You haven't lacked one thing. "(The Message Bible)
Is there a wilderness of unemployment, sickness, and family relationships that the Lord maybe taking you through? It is encouraging to know when you go through your wilderness that your God is with you, and is keeping your safe.
David asks the question., “"Is there anyplace I can go to avoid your Spirit? To be out of your sight? 8 If I climb to the sky, you're there! If I go underground, you're there! 9 If I flew on morning's wings to the far western horizon, 10 you’d find me in a minute - you're already there waiting!" Psalms 139:7-10. (The Message Bible.)
I went through the wilderness of being unemployed for three years ago, it meant giving up my apartment, and my independence, and moving back home. I am thankful for family and a place to stay. During this time, "I lacked nothing." The Lord provided.
No it wasn't easy to go without an income and not to be able to pay bills. It was difficult to not have my freedom to come and go. Because of low vision, I cannot drive. This rural area does not have a bus system. Again, "I lacked nothing." and transportation was provided through family and friends from church.
Yet during this time, I knew somehow the Lord was going to bring me through. In this wilderness I had no sense of direction as to which way to go, or what career choice to make. I claimed Jeremiah 29 11: “For I know the thoughts I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
The Lord opened up the "Promise Land" of vocational rehabilitation in Fishersville, VA. I took their Business program. After graduation I moved to Waynesboro into a new apartment complex. What a blessing to have my own place and independence.
The Lord brought the right people along and they invited me to their church. One of the most important blessings to me is finding a solid church to attend. I wanted to put the Lord first. Then look for employment.
Looking back, I can see that had I not gone through this wilderness experience, I would have missed out on having God's very best for me Now, at night time I have His peace that surpasses all human comprehension.
What wilderness are you going through? Do you sense the Lord's hand of protection and guidance? Can you see the "everyday blessings" that He gives you? Trust Him to bring you through the wilderness and into the Promise Land that He has for you.
