Once, I was burdened
with a most miserable concern.
My heart was wrenched in two.
By fate?
More likely chance.
The flower of my eye was poisoned
by the very devil himself.
She faltered on health's passage
and crumbled during the cure.
Yet, throughout her light burned bright
and does to this day.
