Last Friday night was a night of victory not only for myself, but for many who came in pursuit of a touch from God. As the concert began it was immediately apparent to me that Jesus was in the house and we had no choice but to serve homage.
I want to thank those of you who came in support for the Mission Africa 2005 Benefit Concert. I have been receiving phone calls and also emails from people who were there and who were deeply affected by the ministry of Jesus. Praise His Name!
Before I entered the stage, the pastor asked me if I was ready, as he was going to warm up the crowd. My reply was Lets roll! I have never used that term before, but as it came out of my mouth I knew that God was going to win some battles in the lives of people that night. I knew after praying with my warrior friend Marjorie that God had orchestrated something beyond my own ability. I also knew as I entered that stage that God had placed upon me an increase of joy. Now for some of you that will be hard for you to believe, being that JJ (Joyful Jane) is an old nickname for me.
As the evening progressed I soon realized how out of control I was of it and acknowledged Gods plan as I submitted completely. The result was one of victory, one of joy, one of healing and one of holiness. I shared a very important Word with those who came that night that I would like to share with you. God led me to a scripture in the wee early morning of that day that has yet to stop its affect on my spirit.
"Imagine a person who lives well, treating others fairly, keeping good relationships--
doesn't eat at the pagan shrines,
doesn't worship the idols so popular in Israel,
doesn't seduce a neighbor's spouse,
doesn't indulge in casual sex,
doesn't bully anyone,
doesn't pile up bad debts, doesn't steal,
doesn't refuse food to the hungry,
doesn't refuse clothing to the ill-clad,
doesn't exploit the poor,
doesn't live by impulse and greed,
doesn't treat one person better than another,But lives by my statutes and faithfully honors and obeys my laws.
This person who lives upright and well shall live a full and true life. Decree of GOD, the Master.
Ezekiel 18: 5-9 Message Bible
As I closed my bible for some much needed rest I thanked God for yet another passage to take to heart; Another Word for my very thirsty soul; another piece of meat that will sustain me for many hours. As I meditated upon this plethora of Gods' expectations for my life, I was deeply humbled by His mercy upon me. I was all the more determined to become the person He has called me to be. Most importantly I left yet another encounter with my Heavenly Father feeling empowered and filled with purpose.
How about you? Do you feel God is capable of helping you be the kind of person in which He expects for you to be? I know the only way in which I will obtain His great expectations is through obedience to Christ and choosing to love Him more than my own flesh.
