I was thinking this morning of all the fun it is going to be to take the rooms in the house, and redecorate them, stripping them bare and starting anew.
It struck me as I thought about colors, and things that would go in to the room, that in order to make the space shine with new beauty, you had to rid it of all that was there before.
And I thought of our love as a process like that, each morning we have our space together to make new...and in order for the beauty to shine with new freshness, I go through and clean out what just doesn't belong, what won't do.
So I take up my broom of love and sweep all the dust of discouragement out the door, and with my duster of forgiveness I pull down any cobwebs that might lurk in the corners there.
When all is swept clean and ready, I bring in all that is new...and paint the walls with colors of joy, and on the floor is a carpet of love just for you.
There are new curtains at the windows, gossamer hope that floats in the breeze, for the fresh wind of God's grace fills up our space, and His light shines in from above.
Once all is completed and done, everything fresh and new, it is ready for us to move in...and all thru the day we add to the room, making it a refuge where we both want to stay.
On the walls we hang beautiful pictures of our dreams, the things we'd like to do and places we'd like to go.... and we sit hand in hand on a loveseat of faith, sharing our treasure of love, the gift that's brought us more joy than we ever thought we'd know.
And if, by the end of the day we find there are some things in our room that we need to change, the joy is in the knowledge that comes the next morning, we'll have a chance to do it all over again.
For just as God's mercies are new every day, so is the love that we share too...it changes and grows, transforms over and over again.... a new gift you give to me, and I to you.
