The Corinthians received the gospel of Christ through Paul’s preaching. His aim was not to tickle their ears with eloquence nor to display his skills, but to the saving of the soul. His simple message: Christ and the cross. Paul shows us that the success of the gospel does not rely on human wisdom, philosophy, or excellency of speech – it is God’s demonstration.
