Sometimes the ship, it seems far away
or could it be my patience is weak
As I did watch and wait, from day to day
and at night I did peep and seek
On the shore as I watched from a distance
hoping that was not late
Then I thought, could it be, that I was early
in my mind went on, this debate
The great waters were dark and dreary
and no telling what would come nect
As I paced the floor, which was my shore
and deep within my soul was vex
A few days ago, I sent out my message
in the tune of a prayer, mind you;
But I forgot, that it takes some patience
as the clouds blinded my view
Now I can imagine the Lord, setting there
beholding childish acts, on display
But he didn't scold me while I was in it
but showed me why it was on delay
And that was to build, my faith some more
so I can go a little higher in him
For he wanted me to grow and now I know
while he let it become a little dim
For one time I thought I had over-slept
and the ship passed through the night
As I watched from the floor, that was my shore
and that day went out of sight
Then out of the blue the merchant ship arrived
it was a welcome site to see
After days and nights, not a word in sight
God came by to see about me
His ship wasn't filled with gold and silver
not what the natural eyes did perceive
But he showed me wonders, that I never knew
and my heart it did receive
He brought me lots of joy and perfect peace
and a lot of patience was in one crate
Then he covered me with his shawls of love
these he had on this freight
The great sails of mercy they did hovel high
pure and white throughout it's flight
Like angles descending, from heaven above
with a song of joy delight
I didn't even have to flag this ship down
for it was already on it's way
Bringing to me all the things I did need
and O' boy did it make my day
