CHILD OF THE NIGHT

Where are you headed child of the night?

What are you looking for –
pain or delight?

Who are your partners,
What do they care?

Where are you going child of the night?

Eating from garbage cans,
Sleeping in alleys,
Losing yourself to
Become one with the night.

Do you miss the bird songs,
Clouds in the sky;
The laughter of children
That sounds so sweet?

Come out of the darkness Child of the night.
You have so much to live for,
Let in the light.

The Light warms your soul,
Will chase away shadows
That ruins your view.
The Light will always swallow the night.

Awaken, oh child
See your potential that screams
To be loosed.

there are so many children of the night, it breaks my heart. so many have never seen anything of beauty and none of God's love. your poem is their cry.

Inspiring poem. It awakens the reader to the plight of some children. Hopefully, it will make a difference. Good job! Karen

Jay, Wow! Here is what I found so special about your poem: I would picture a young girl living on the street one second, and the very next second see myself or others when we were not following God's will. The poem talks to both the visible world around us and the spiritual world Jay, Wow! Here is what I found so special about your poem: I would picture a young girl living on the street one second, and the very next second see myself or others when we were not following God's will. The poem talks to both the visible world around us and the spiritual world simutaneously. Good, solid poem. Keep up the good work. God Bless.
