I was remembering a time when I went for a walk with my granddaughter, at the time she was very small, and because she was so short, she noticed things along the ground, things that a grownup might never even see.
And she would stop suddenly, and stoop down low, and there almost hidden from view was a tiny little flower that somehow had come up through all the hard packed dirt alongside the road.
And as I watched her sitting back on her heels, completely absorbed in what she saw, all her attention was on that flower, she was captivated at the sight, and at that moment she was completely at peace.
The memory of that makes me think of our love, for it is what taught me to slow down, to take notice of the thousand small things that are part of our everyday lives, little treasures, easily overlooked if I don't stoop down to see.
For our days are full of tiny flowers, just waiting to be discovered as we pass by, and when we stop and look closer we can see, that it is all the small things that we do that make up the love that captivates you and I.
Each soft spoken word, the touch of your hand on mine, the smile just for me, that look of love in your eyes are all a flower garden growing just for me.
I want always to walk very slowly, and search out the treasures growing there, for each day brings more, for the more our love grows, the more little flowers are planted, there's more to search out and to share.
So I savor each moment with you, I am captivated so by your love, and I want you to feel as cherished as I am by you.... and I want always to see the tiny flowers by the side of the road, a tiny garden of love growing just for you and I to share.
