Psalm 1:1 “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.”
Have you ever picked up somebody and wished that you hadn’t by the time you got them out of your car?
I have picked up people, and they will ask me to take them one place, and the day may almost be over by the time they get to that place because they keep turning me around telling me to take them somewhere else. By that time, I will have forgotten where I was headed; or, it will be too late for me to do what I needed to do.
Spiritual Strangers are the same way; they are people that Satan puts on your pathway of life to distract you or to get you turned all around and confused. They come in the form of boyfriends, girlfriends, friends, co-workers, and sometimes strangers.
I have known people to pick up people along life’s way, and they ended up getting turned all around from the righteous pathway; they ended up having to go through many valleys and climbing many high mountains before they were able to get back on the right road. Some of them are still struggling.
Don’t allow people and the things that they do get you off of the right track because once you are lost, you may come across many dark and lonely roads trying to find your way back to righteousness. If you come across people in life, and you know that they are headed down the wrong direction; AND, you know for a fact that you are not strong enough to persuade them to follow you or to go with you, it would be in your best interest to pass right on by.
Be careful not to pick up spiritual strangers along life’s way;
For, they will most surely lead you astray.
If you should meet one and form a conversation
And soon learn without hesitation
That he is not headed in the same direction as you,
Ditching him is the most appropriate thing to do;
For, once he gets into your car of life
He will lead you down a road full of turmoil and strife.
He will ask you to take him one place,
And he will have soon taken you off of the road of your spiritual race.
He will intentionally delay you with erroneous errands to run
And try to make you feel as if his trip is filled with barrels of excitement and fun
Just to keep you from getting to your spiritual destiny
And to hold you back from your responsibility
To remain on the straight and narrow pathway;
For, it is his purpose to make you go astray.
Once you have picked him up for a short ride,
He’ll soon be so in control until he’ll take the wheel and drive,
Taking you places that you shouldn’t go
Trying to make sure that for you’re eternal destination, you are a “no show”.
Even when you’ve gained the courage to put him out,
He’ll leave you confused and with much doubt
As to exactly where you were on your way to;
For, he has succeeded in his efforts to confuse you.
You can very well see that you have lost your way.
And you now need direction back to the straight and narrow pathway.
The best thing to do is stop for moment to pick up your road map for life;
For, if you’d kept it in mind, and heart, you wouldn’t be facing such strife.
As you pick up your Bible to obtain some directions,
You will see that it offers a wonderful suggestion:
Don’t walk in the counsel of the ungodly, stand in the way of sinners, or sit in the seat of the scornful man;
For, he’s a spiritual stranger headed to a strange and distant land.
