When momma went out, the last thing she said,
Was mind your sister or you won't get fed.
When momma came home, she hit me in the face,
She said that I was nothin' but a disgrace
And that I better clean up this place.
I'm tryin' hard to be "the man".
My daddy's gone off, guess he had other plans.
Momma's out every night and she sleeps all day.
When she comes home safe, my sadness slips away.
I just wish that she would stay.
My sister's two and I am only seven.
And I'll tell you this, man, there ain't no
heaven.
But if there really is a God up there in the sky,
I would just like to ask Him why...
He gave me a mom that won't even try.
