In our life of...'preparation'...
We 'anticipate' so much
From time we spent at Mother's breast...
To lover's first sweet touch.
We plan and speculate on how
To maintain some...accord;
Have we made our preparations...
For the coming of the Lord?
We make great plans for wedding days,
Or...when a child arrives;
We realize such great events
Will shape...transform our lives,
But 'mates' will 'pass'...
The children leave
And we are left alone....
Whose arms will hold us snugly
When THOSE arms of love...have gone?
The days of youth will flee away...
Its changes...we MUST face,
While from...reality...of loss
There's but One Hiding Place...
The never changing love of One
Who'll ALL our needs attend...
Have we made our preparations
For the day we'll see this Friend?

Beautifully expressed, Howard. I especially appreciated the reminded of all the many things we invest preparation time in ... I think we all can relate to doing that. Yet, how true, the greatest Preparation of all we leave to chance, or to the smallest measure of our time or thought.
