Snowdrop

There is nothing vaguely deep and meaningful about this offering! Snowdrops have been my favourite flowers since I was presented with some in hospital as a child, whilst undergoing cardiac surgery. I was thrilled to find some growing in my garden the other day.

I gaze upon your delicate form
Intricate yet simple
Flawless and pure
And marvel at your beauty
Wondering why
You stand downcast
With cernuous head inclined,
Regarding the earth
From whence you came.

I would that you linger awhile
But nothing temporal remains.
There is to everything
Under the Heavens
A season,
A time,
A purpose.
Before long you will depart
Never to return again.
Your ephemeral beauty
A memory,
A transient gift, in time.

If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW

You write so beautiful! God, indeed, gave you a song. Please keep singing! - Nancy

It's nice to read a poem that doesn't have a deeper meaning! I liked your description of the snowdrop - it was so spot on. I really liked the word "downcast" - it is so appropriate. The second stanza about things being temporal and the The idea of times and seasons - really well written! I have snowdrops in my garden. This year they have really put on a display!
