I remember long ago during one hot summer day, I got to ride along on a sailboat; in my memory it was a pretty good size.
What struck me the most was that we seemed to be traveling so fast, yet our passage was almost without a sound, just the whisper of the water as it flowed past.
Most of the time we could just sit and ride, our faces turned to the sun, feeling the breeze cooling and blowing the heat of the day away, our fingers trailing in the water so close by our side.
At times though, it got exciting, and we all had to sit on the edge, brace our feet and lean out as far as we could, a human counter-balance to the force of the wind.
It was such fun, this afternoon's ride upon the water, an adventure without leaving the safety of the boat, and I remember wishing it could go on forever, to capture and keep this feeling of freedom and adventure always in my heart.
Now that God has brought you and I together, we have this adventure every day...we sail off each morning with the sun fresh on our faces, hearts full of anticipation for the joy we will discover this day.
Sometimes we must lean out far over the edge, but our feet are always planted firm inside the boat, and we laugh with sheer joy at the rewards these small risks always bring, for God is always stretching us as we sail along with him.
And I suddenly realize deep in my heart that another wish has come true, that I have really captured that feeling in my heart...the joy of the adventure and the love that fills my life, are mine every day because they are all shared with you.
