Take from me this gift
rip it from my clenched fists
Peel my fingers back
revealing a
one-sided love affair
a package forever wrapped
pondered over
studied, poked, and prodded
Returned to me
unopened
Not wanting to be ungrateful
for the blessed love
You enstilled in my heart
Yet wanting to be free
from the impossibility
of him ever pulling back
the wrapping
I offer it back to you,
the giver of all gifts
And pray its true owner
will treasure him
as much as
