“Touching the Scars”

Then he said to Thomas, “Reach here your finger, and see my hands; and reach hear your hand and put it into my side; and be not unbelieving, but believing.” John 20:27

Sometimes when I am feeling as though my wounds and scars are too deep for Jesus to heal I have to come back to this scripture close my eyes and visualize touching Jesus’ wounds. Then I am reminded that Jesus endured those wounds for me, no matter how large I think my scars are, Jesus can endure them and heal them.

There are no scars or wounds that we need to hide from the Lord, no needed to be ashamed to share with Jesus. He’s seen them all. If there is a wound you are holding onto and allowing it to affect your relationship with Jesus, put your hand in is hand feel the scars on the palms of his hands, feel the wounds of his side. He suffered these for you. Share your scars with him allow him to close your wounds. Heal, forgive and forget.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for bearing the burdens of my sins, for allowing your scars to be shown. Help me now, Lord to close my wounds and to not be ashamed. Help me to forgive, be forgiven and to take enough character from these wounds to become a stronger person and let the rest go.
