As I wake to the warmth of the rising southern sun
I hear the call of the loon and the crow
I rise and face the day that I once knew as tomorrow
Walking slowly through what has now become today
I hear the melody of many cajun tongues
a blend of french and english into something quite beyond
And as the morning and afternoon give way to evening's dusk
the sun dips for eternities on end
into a bayou horizon lined with ageless cypress guardians
At long last the dark resounds with the stillness of a sleep
then comes alive with the music of life
and I rest in the arms of delight brought by this Louisiana night
