Every day that passes by,
has counted up to 365,
a year of news, a year of change
but has it really changed our lives?
Thoughts go back, it's natural
To the moment when our freedom fell
In magazines and news and cable
the day is remembered, oh so well
A widow here, a mother there,
a husband's grief again retold
We hear it, read it, and see it clear
how over and over their pain is sold
The headlines still are making mention
of rumors, tales, and second-hand stories
while already we are slow to attention
when our flag is flown in all its glory
So, really, after all our emotions
and angered speeches of sure intentions
have we persevered in our most treasured devotion?
did our vengeance join us, or simply stir up dissention?
We sure did do our country honor
when we rose up together in one strong voice
but now is when the road gets harder
and now is when we must make the choice
Will we go back to complacency?
to the numb existence we had before?
or will we remember that we're in this together,
that we must be supportive now even more
For the enemy's watching and he's seen this before
how we make a big noise and then just a snore
He's counting on apathy to open the door
so let's not keep this routine anymore
Let's keep our eyes open and our ears set to hear
Let's fan the embers of our American pride
If you treasure your freedom, then let your meaning be clear,
for this is something each person, each day, must decide!
If you died today, are you absolutely certain that you would go to heaven? You can be! TRUST JESUS NOW
