THE SECOND COMING

"Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all convictions, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity."

[W.B. Yeats, The Second Coming]

Lover of my soul - it is scary, the thought of a world so plagued by
evil that the best lack all conviction, and the worst are full of
passionate intensity!

Conviction:

"The state of being convinced or convicted; strong persuasion or
belief; especially, the state of being convicted of sin, or by one's
conscience." (online Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary, 1996,
1998 MICRA, Inc).

Conviction:

1. The act of convicting or the state of being convinced. 2. A strong
opinion or belief. (American Heritage Dictionary, 4th edition)

So while the best stand helpless, despairing in the face of such
anarchy, the worst are at the zenith of their folly.

Methinks, that I would nonetheless prefer to be one of the BEST who
lacks conviction and despairs at the madness, than be one of the
WORST who breeds and breathes the system of anarchy!

But then, as I ponder this dilemma, my spider sense begins to tingle,
and the word of God whispers into my ear: "look deeper; Open your
spiritual eyes and you will see the message in that poem!"

And the word speaks to me:

"Isaiah 5:20:

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for
light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet
for bitter!

And,

Mathew 6:23
But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If
therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that
darkness!

And dearest, it suddenly occurs to me that this poem is about the
Second Coming! So I ask myself, why would the BEST lack conviction at
the appearing of the Lord of glory, who Himself is the dearest and
the best?

And I recall that looking through the eyes of the darkness of this
world, Satan the predator is worshipped as a glorious creature, while
the Lamb and His followers are held in contempt, despicable, the
dregs of the global satanic system!

James 2:

5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this
world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised
to them that love him? 6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich
men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats? 7 Do not
they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?

So looking through the eyes of darkness, those who are the rulers of
the evil system of this world are the BEST, and those who oppose the
evil system and its god, are the WORST:

"Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?"

[ibid]

Through the eyes of darkness, the birth of the Lamb of God, the lord
of glory, is seen as the birth of the predator whose gaze, "blank and
pitiless as the sun," shows the mercilessness of His character, and
so the lamb of God is portrayed as being a predator who slouches
toward Bethlehem to be born!

Interesting, isn't it? How the Predator is presented as the Lamb, and
the Lamb is presented as the Predator?

Again:

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for
light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet
for bitter!"

That is why, through the eyes of darkness, the Second Coming of the
Lord is a damnable thing, where the destruction of the evil system of
this world is seen as anarchy loosed upon the world, and where the
best of the satanic world system lacks conviction and is plunged into
despair at the appearance of the Lord of glory, while the saints of
God (considered the worst according to the rudiments of the evil
system), are full of passionate intensity.

And no wonder, for they are elated, basking in the radiance of their
great God and Savior, Jesus the Christ!

2nd Thessalonians 1: 6-10

6 since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation
those who trouble you, 7and to give you who are troubled rest with
us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty
angels, 8in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know
God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus
Christ. 9These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from
the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 10when He
comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired
among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was
believed.

Yes, the ways of the ungodly, and the mindset that sees Darkness as
light and Light as darkness might be manifest in the most mellifluous
song or the most accomplished poetry. But the end result will be the
same for those who stand against the Light.

Jude:

14 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also,
saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, 15
to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them
of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly
way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken
against Him."

So...how do YOU see the Second Coming? Will it be a Day of
inexpressible, insuppressible glory, or a Day of cloud and darkness
and tempest a Day when raw anarchy is loosed upon your world?

Well I see it this way--Romans 5:6-For when we were still without strength, in DUE TIME Christ DIED FOR THE UNGODLY. So in Tim. we are exhorted to pray for ALL men, for God desires ALL men TO BE SAVED. (1 Tim. 1:6-who gave His life a RANSOM for ALL, to be testified IN DUE TIME. so I see it this way-Heb.9:27-To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear A SECOND TIME apart from sin, FOR SALVATION. Blessings, Sharon
