My mom has always told me to never run from a dog or let him know that I was afraid of him because he will attack at the aroma of fear.
One day my parents went to visit an old friend of theirs. My dad got out of the car, but my mom and I remained in the car. Well, after we had sat in the car a while, I decided that I wanted to go where my father was. As soon as I stepped a few steps away from the car, a dog came running after me, and I went running around and around the car until my mom was able to open the back door so that I could jump in. I was crying, and she said, “You should have never run.” I was looking at her like, “What was I supposed to do; just let him jump on me?” She said, “You see he didn’t jump on or even come after your day? Because your dad didn’t show any signs of fear, but he smelled fear when you got out of the car and you confirmed that fear when you starting running.”
That stayed with me, and I stopped running from dogs. This reminds me of how Satan is. Satan will approach you in a vicious manner, and if you back down from him, he’ll keep coming after you with force until he is on top of you, ripping your life to shreds with destruction, confusion, heartache, disappointment and failure. BUT, if you stand there and let him know that you are not afraid of him, he will put his tail between his legs and go on about his business.
Don’t let Satan bark of scare tactics frighten you enough to make you run from him. Once he finds a place in your life that he can intimidate you and cause fear, he will continue to use that place until he is on top of your life doing whatever he wants.
You have the power and authority to make him back down by standing strong in your faith that God will protect you from all hurt, harm, sins, evil and danger, seen and unseen.
The world belongs to you, and Satan is in his own little yard, and there is a fence around him, and he can’t just get out. God has to let him out, and even if God lets him out, God will only allow him to go far enough that He can regain your attention and trust.
If trouble is going on in your home, Satan is barking; exemplify your faith and tell him to “Shut up!” If Satan is barking on your job, let him no that you are not afraid, and you are tired of hearing his voice; tell him to “Shut up!” If Satan is barking in your finances, look him in the eyes and tell him to “Shut up!” Wherever you are on your Christian journey and Satan is just barking like a mad dog, tell him to “Shut up!” He will because he has no choice. You have authority over him because you are an heir of the powers of God, and God has the power to make him set down and shut up; so do you.
Satan seems so big and mighty to you
Because he seems to hinder everything you try to do;
But Satan is a big do with no bite;
And, if you show him you’re not afraid, he won’t fight.
He’ll run away, but sneak back up again;
But your strength and faith, you must retain.
Just like a dog, he attacks when he smells fear;
Therefore, you must make it known and very clear
That you have no fear of him and the efforts he makes;
And, your faith, he cannot and will not shake.
He barks loud so that everyone can hear
To make others think your days are dark and drear;
But, he knows very well that he has no authority;
Therefore, his bark is a necessity
In his efforts to cause hesitation
In you moving forward to reach your destination;
But, hold your head up high and move right along.
Let him know his bark won’t cause you to turn back and do wrong.
Let him know that in your destination, you will allow no interference
Because you have a determination to move forward with persistence.
You don’t need a stick to beat him down
Because inside is where your strength can be found
To make him back down and leave you alone
So that you can continue your journey and move on.
Although he appears mighty at first sight,
You can be assured that he’s just a big dog with no bite
Because he cannot attack or defeat you;
For, God’s word holds strong and true
That He is your avenger and strong tower of protection;
And, He will not allow Satan to harm you if you maintain the connection
With Him and the destiny He has for your life.
So, don’t allow Satan to threaten you with barks of heartache and strife.
Although Satan may seem strong in might,
Be confident that he is a big dog with no bite;
For, he only wants to intimidate and frighten you,
And, if you continue to walk with God, He will take you through.
All Satan can do is stand at the gate, bark and growl
Because he acknowledges that coming against God can cause him to howl.
He fears God, but he wants you to fear his bark;
But, God is protecting you even when your way seems dark.
As long as you are on the path that is called “right”,
You don’t have to worry about Satan, the big dog with no bite.
