Praise the Lord! He does heal. Malachi 4:2 ďBut unto you who fear my name shall the Son of righteousness arise with healing in his wings.Ē I am proof. It is amazing how God does things and just at the right time. He plans it out before He acts. He doesnít do anything the same way.
God has been dealing with me to get rid of my medicine. It would be in His time and way. He works differently with different people. He knows what our response will be. His timing is never off. He picked the doctor for me; the one who would go along with Godís plans.
Right from the start I told him I wanted to get off the medicines. He said I possibly could. A different doctor had given me Prevacid for heartburn and acid reflux. I had to get my esophagus stretched three times because I couldnít swallow food. He said this medicine would heal any erosions, cancer or ulcers. This was in 2001.
It got rid of the heartburn but I was still getting reflux. I would wake up at night with bitter acid burning my throat. Sometimes, it was so bad I could hardly breathe. Two doctors told me not to eat red meat. They didnít tell me why and I didnít ask. I ate it anyway when I wanted to. I also ate food with tomato sauces and chocolate which were my worst offenders. I liked them the best. I didnít do what I was told so I had to suffer for it.
In 2002 the doctor gave me lipitor although my cholesterol wasnít that high. Again I didnít question it. I kept taking it. Accuretic, a blood pressure medicine, was next. For about two years I coughed continuously. I had just gotten over bronchitis before I began this medicine. I thought it was just something I had to put up with. Finally I told the doctor. It was the medicine causing the cough. He gave me benicar. The coughing quit.
Actually, my Blood pressure wasnít all that high. At one time the borderline was 140/90. They keep dropping it. A few times the top number was above 140. That was always when I was really stressed out about something or when something traumatic happened. The bottom number was never above 90.
I made up my mind that I would do something about it. I did not want to live the rest of my life taking pills. I would pray and ask God what He wanted me to do so I could get off them. Then by the scripture I quoted about healing in His wings, I knew God would heal when I obeyed Him. In a dream, He promised me He would heal me. It has been gradually been happening. He has kept other promises He has made me. Heís NOT about to quit now.
Yesterday, January 17, 2005, I had an appointment to see my doctor. I had a whole program set up in which I would tell him why and how I wanted to get off the medicine. I had all kinds of papers to show him what I planned to do for a new life style.
I get Aire Ride, a Community Action group, to take me to the office. I used my driver as a sounding board, telling him what I expected to tell the poor doctor. I was warned by another party that he would tell me I was wrong or maybe even crazy, and tell me to go to another doctor. I had Godís armor on but a bit of my human side still wondered if I could stick to my plans.
The driver was very encouraging, telling me his wife felt the same way I did. Whether he was a Christian or not, God sent the right driver who didnít deride anything I said about trusting God. My testimony after the doctorís visit might convince him if he isnít a Christian yet.
I went into the office and almost immediately, the doctor was with me. All the preliminaries were done before. He had been looking at the results of the blood work I got the week before. He checked my heart and said everything was just fine. No problem. Before I had a chance to say anything, he said he was taking me off two of my medicines, lipitor and prevacid! Wow! Then he added when (not if) I lost 10 pounds, I could take myself off the benicar. I would have to cut the pills in half to go off easily. The other two I could go cold turkey.
He trusted me to know when to do it. He did tell me to check my blood pressure as often as I could. If it shot up too high, then I would have to see him. A visiting nurse comes to the high rise once a month. Another VNA nurse goes to the center once a month at another date where I eat lunch at times. I get weighed at the center so that is the scales I will go by. I weigh less on my own scales but I donít have boots or heavy sneakers on at home. A woman at the high rise will also take my blood pressure. She had been a nurse and still helps people here when they need it.
I knew two weeks before, that my esophagus was healed and the reflux was gone. I could eat tomato products and chocolate with no signs of heartburn or reflux. What a relief!
This is long enough for now. In another article I will write about the plans God has given me to follow. I need prayers to keep me on them.
I hope this will encourage you to trust God enough so the Son of righteousness will come to you with healing in his wings. God bless you
