Hello Dear Reader,
Please take time to read this, and reflect on it, pass this on if it will reach one young person and hopefully change their lives, or even your own.
This is a true story, where the only name mentioned, will be Jessieís.
Somewhere, in Anytown, Anywhere,USA, a young man decided to end his life.
He was not at home when he made this decision, but elsewhere. He was living with friends, those he felt who knew him best, and would accept him as he was.
A young man of 20, slim build, with a year long tan, cool looking young boy, who had a job, a girlfriend and a baby girl just under 2 years old.
Somewhere along the way, Jessie had made some wrong turns in life. A price was to be paid in full, in monetary ways of the world. He did get the money and made good on this promise. He was also to be able to be free, as long as he behaved. Seems after a couple years, more wrong turns were made, and again, a price was to be paid, this time, was with his time, in a place, not of his choosing, but because of choices he made, that made the ultimate choice, a chance to be.Then, two months of dealing with something that he could have prevented, but did anyway, and soon, very soon he would be elsewhere for a few years time.
To much to deal with, to much emotional pain, no one he felt he could talk to, and down came the rain. The rain of desperation, that no one would understand, that no one maybe gave a damn. But people did, I did, but we found out to late.
Jessie on 1-12-05 hung himself.
At a place where he lived with his friends, so when his
friend came home, he found Jessie, hung to death.
Kids his age who thought death was cool, says so on TV found out different when they came to see him face to face, they alive, and himÖdead. Some wore his clothes to the funeral, I didnít see that as I couldnít get there that night. Some wore his jewelry as well, and hsi favorite cross. Some of these kids were into the Goth type look, or Punk, anything to separate themselves from the world of everyone looking like everyone else.
At the funeral the adults cried somewhat. All of Jessieís friends cried openly, the guys and the girls. That is what touched my heart, not that someone was all dressed in black, or had orange or red fruit punched hair. These kids loved him, and wanted to be there withhim, for the last time.
And of course, you the reader want to know, why did this happen?? Did he tell anyone?? Did he leave a note??
We do know that Jessie did not tell anyone in the family his intentions. So the real reason, truly lies with Jessie in his grave.
Dear Reader, please, please, talk to your kids, whatever their age, and donít let smiles make you think everything is ok, sometimes smiles hide pain. Emotional pain. Find out what they, think, feel and where they are emotionally. Itís not the familyís fault he chose this, but as an after thought, no one asked any questions. Neither did I and I saw him one last time on 1-14-05.
