I've been there myself,
My heart aches for you,
Only someone who has lost a child,
Would know what you’re going through.
I know the anger and hurt,
The depth of the pain you feel.
The numbness as you say,
“It just can’t be real”.
You think to yourself,
"Wake me from this nightmare!”
It just has to be a dream,
Because my God loves me and He cares.
I remember saying,“Lord, I know,
There's a reason, but I don't understand"
And I’m so glad, my friend Jesus,
Touched my heart and took my hand.
He got me through it,
Somehow, some way,
But I don’t understand it all,
Still to this day,
I know my God loves me,
He got me through all the pain.
And every time I thought I couldn’t go on,
He helped me to my feet again.
I’d fall down on my knees,
“Dear God please!”
"Take my heart Lord,
Make it not hurt so much,”
And through His loving Grace,
I felt His loving touch.
He gave me poetry,
To help me cope,
He gave me the words,
As He gave me hope.
And I want you to know my friend,
You’re in my heart and prayers,
And if you'll just let Him,
He’ll show you how much He cares.
I know my God hears my prayers,
And I know He hears yours too.
And I know His love and promises,
Will eventually get you through.
But I know too, there are no words right now,
That will soothe the pain you’re in,
I pray you'll take His hand though,
And let Him bring you hope again.
