After the author began earning money, he went to the local christian bookstore and bought a Bible that is still one of his favorites: a New Scofield Reference Bible.
2 Timothy 3:14-17
Paul exhorts Timothy to remain true to God's truth. Timothy has learned and become convinced of the truth; he is standing in it and is to persist therein.
Paul says that all scripture is "profitable (valuable," "useful," "beneficial") for teaching."
The Word of God trains, instructs, disciplines believers as they seek to live in the realm of righteousness.
The Spirit of God is able to apply the principles and truths of the inspired Word to our hearts just as He did in past generations, and while our technology may be far ahead of our ancestors, our hearts and minds are the same.
It is truly James prayer that you will stop and thank God the next time you place your hand upon your Bible.
The author shares that he grew up in a Christian family. From his youth he knew the words to the great hymn "How Firm a Foundation."
