Itís important to live every day as if itís your last because it may very well be; for, death cometh as a thief in the night Ė you donít know the hour that he shall come. So, be ready at all times. Stop running after the things of this world because this world and everything in it will someday pass away, and life will have just passed you by.
What did I do? Where did my life go?
For my work and effort, what do I have to show?
It has come down to my time to die;
Time for me to bid this world good-bye,
And I donít have anything of spiritual worth
For the time spent and work done on this earth.
I never once reached out a helping hand,
Nor did I offer compassion or try to understand
The burdens and heartaches of my sisters and brothers.
I wasnít concerned about the welfare of others.
All of my living was completely in vain;
For, I only lived for material wealth to be my gain.
Iíve traveled many places in this great world,
But Iíve never done anything to touch the heart of a man, woman, boy or girl.
In the finest homes, I was able to live,
But a place for a homeless soul, I never once tried to give.
Iíve driven the nicest cars that anyone could afford,
But when a stranger needed a ride, his plea I ignored.
Iíve worn the finest clothes that money could buy,
But those living on the streets, I simply passed by.
Itís easy to allow life to pass from day-to-day
Never once considering that it may be the moment you pass away.
Donít let life just pass you by
By thinking that your day hasnít come to die.
Donít lie down at night assuming you will see the next day
Because death may very well come in the night to take your soul away.
Donít hold resentment and hate in your heart
Thinking that from this earthly life, you wonít soon depart
Because there will come a day when you will have to die
And if you continue running behind the things of this world, life will surely pass you by.
