It's simply too wonderful
Beyond all I've seen or heard
The way You've kept Your promise
Is outrageously absurd
For many years I've cherished
The word You spoke to me
That one day I would witness
Your plan to set men free
"A people lost in darkness
Have seen a glorious light
The enemy and oppressor
Will soon be put to flight."
Prompted by Your Spirit
I waited patiently
Standing in the Temple courts
Unsure what I might see
A babe was thrust upon me
A tiny fragile child
His fingers tight around my own
Then suddenly I smiled
A deep and joyous laugh
Broke forth and overflowed
God has left his throne above
In man, made his abode
This tiny hand I'm holding
Put all the stars in place
The immortal God, invisible
To us has shown his face
The Alpha and Omega
The First and Last is He
To think that I am holding
The God who's holding me
(Based on Luke 2:25-35)

Melanie, Everytime I read one of your poems I stand amazed and humbled at the clarity of thought, the flow of words. It's like sitting by a bubbling brook taking in the beauty of creation. That's what you paint with your words. Thanks for sharing this poem for review and your willingness to share other poems in Kindred Hearts. You are a gem. I do believe God is pleased. -- Glenn :-)
Oh Melanie... that so, so witnessed to my spirit that if feels like the Spirit of God Himself is tingling my skin. He has entrusted us with that Spirit and it is too, too wonderful a thing that we witness. I pray this piece gets massive exposure. It's absolutely beautiful!
Melanie, I agree! It's too wonderful! This is very beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
Dear Melanie, this is very beautifully written and it would be "too wonderful" to even express to have given birth to and hold the God who holds her. A concept too powerful to conceive or understand. Only by the faith we are provided could such a miracle be believed. May God bless you as you continue to honor Him with your writing. In His Name, I thank you for the blessing of reading this heartwarming poem.
This is beautiful. I love the direction you take this poem.
