St. Matthew 24:42-46 says watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this that if the Goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the son of man cometh. Who then is a faithful and wise servant whom his lord hath made ruler over his household to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. My thought comes from verse 44 and is simply this: Always be ready. It is no secret that we are living in the last days on earth. The Bible tells about earthquakes, pestilences and famines in divers places. The end is near and Jesus is coming back for a ready people.
In verse 33, Jesus says so likewise ye when ye shall see all these things know that it is near even at the doors. We have recently seen the destruction in Indoesnia, Thailand, Sri-Lanka etc. Truly my heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones, homes and are without food and drink due to the Tsunami. I pray for their restoration, healing and deliverance.
In St. John 3:3 Jesus was talking to a Pharisee name Nicodemus. He asked Jesus saying Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God. For no man can do miracles that thou doest except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, verily, verily I say unto thee except a man be born again he cannot see the Kingdom of God. If I am not mistaken, Indoesnia, Thailand and India etc are predominantly Muslim nations. My question is how many people entered the kingdom of God? How many of those people were ready on that dreadful day? I pray that many were ready because if there were not ready where did they end up?
I am reminded of the story of the Ten Virgins in St. Matthew 25 in which five were wise and the other five were foolish. The five that were wise were the true believers and the five that were foolish were the false believers. Therefore the wise virgins were always ready and the foolish ones were not. Now even here in America, we have wise and foolish virgins. How long are the foolish going to live a life without God? It seems that people here think that they can live any kind of way and make it into the kingdom of God. The foolish go to church only on New Years Eve and Easter and think that earns them a right to eternal life; but Jesus told Nicodemus except a man be born again he cannot enter the kingdom of God. God sees all and knows all. We are not getting away with anything.
These are the times in which backsliders must come back to God. Jesus is coming back at a time that no man or angel knows except the father. The Lord is coming back at a time that no man expects. We must be ready. When he comes back he is going to separate the sheep from the goat, In other words, the true from the false believers. We must be wise and keep the oil in the lamps and not be foolishly caught with empty lamps. I pray for a spirit of the fear of the lord, in Jesus name. Always be ready. Amen.
