While Shepard’s strolled upon the hills,
As many nights before,
Kept their sheep from straying out,
Beyond they’re lighted door.
Bedrolls placed around the fire,
Their minds were filled with fear,
To see an Angel in their mist,
Who bid them heavens cheer.
Fear not my friends, this sight you see,
I come to bear good news,
Glad tidings of great joy I bring,
A child born unto you.
Through the tribe of Judah,
The lineage of the Kings,
God’s son is born this very night,
While all of heaven sings.
Goodwill and peace from God to man,
Is birthed in Jesus Christ,
Sing aloud, redeeming grace,
Which is your sacrifice.
The cloudless cold Judean sky,
Though filled with life’s unrest,
Shall know that it was chosen,
On this night to be blessed,
