As Christians, we must know who Jesus really is. We must know that he is the Christ but also more. It is true that he is the Son of God, but Jesus is God! There is a group of people called Jehovah`s Witness who do not believe that Jesus is God. They refer to God as Jehovah. While it is true that God is known as Jehovah-rapha, Jehovah-nissi, Jehovah-jireh etc, one must understand that these names describe his character, power and awesomeness. I write not to hurt Jehovah witnesses because God loves them and I do too. I also want to make clear that I am not an authority on Jehovah witnesses and all their beliefs. I write to educate them as well as any born-again believer in Jesus Christ who may not know that Jesus is God. I do know that they study from their bible called the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures. What I want to attempt to do is prove without a shadow of a doubt that Jesus is God.
Looking at First Timothy 3:16, the verse reads: And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory. The key point is God was manifest in flesh. Now if God was manifest in flesh then that means Jesus is God. First timothy 4:10 says: For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God who is the saviour of all men, specially to those that believe. Who is the living God and the saviour of the world? Jesus Christ.
When I looked through the New World Translation, I looked up First John 5:7. To my amazement, it gave no acknowledgement of the Trinity. Now anyone who is saved believes in the Trinity. Now as I read the KJV, I see that the scripture says: For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. So obviously there are three Godheads, different manifestations. In The New World, First John 5:7 says: there are three bearers. Verse 8 says the spirit and the water and the blood and the three are in agreement. Yes, but the scripture denies the Father, Son, Holy Ghost, as the Trinity.
Let us look at more thought provoking scriptures in the KJV that will give you more revelation that Jesus is God. In the book of Exodus 3:13-14 the reads: And Moses said unto God behold, when I come unto the Children of Israel and shall say unto them the God of your fathers hath sent me unto you, and they shall say unto me what is his name what shall I say unto them? God said thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM that I AM: He said thus shalt thou say unto the Children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. Keep the words I AM in your mind for a moment. In St. John 8:56-58 Jesus mentions: Your fathers Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad (Jesus was talking to the Jews). Then said the Jews unto him thou art not yet fifty years old and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them verily, verily, I say unto you before Abraham was I AM. Did you get the revelation?
The Word of God proves without a doubt like a Philadelphia lawyer that Jesus is God. God had to come to earth in flesh to redeem his people with his death burial and resurrection. Some people may say well, if Jesus is God then why did God die? My answer is God had to come to earth in flesh because he had to give himself for our sins, also that was the only way his mission of redemption could be completed. We live in a physical earth and if the will of God is to be done, it had to be through a physical body. In addition, if Jesus were not God he would not have said Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up (St. John 2:19). Jesus was talking about his body. Now how can a man raise his own body except he be God? Jesus is not just the Christ but God. He is the Son of God because he came from God, but he is also the Son of God because he was manifest in flesh. In heaven, he is Father. He was in heaven and earth at the same time. Jesus is God. Amen.
Hi Calvin, I enjoyed your article. (Tim.316) "If God was manifest in the flesh then that means that Jesus is God." You are absolutely RIGHT! John 1:1-In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word WAS GOD. (14) And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. It is a shame that they just can't see that. We will have to pray that the Father will give them eyes to see and ears to ear and a heart to understand. Blessings, Sharon
