I was thinking of the charm bracelet that you gave me, just as our life together was about to start, so that upon its links we could hang charms as reminders of memories so close to our hearts.
The links of the chain from which the bracelet was made were double, two together; they were made to be side by side, one pair of links looped in and through the next, little circles of love with no beginning and no end. And upon each link we hung a silver charm, a memory wrapped up in a tiny toy, but alongside those charms there are others that cannot be seen, the ones that bring my heart such special joy.
There are tiny hearts of love on each and every link, because our days begin and end with this, and close beside are comfort and peace, encouragement, hope, and bliss. And all around the links, filling in every little space, are shiny bits of prayer for every need, and at the end of each day, the link is full, our life has been 'charmed' indeed!
You'd think it would be heavy, this bracelet so crowded with charms, both those that we see, and those hidden from view - but the more we add on, the lighter it gets, like this loving heart that I give to you. There is such joy to know that each new day, there is added another pair of links, another shining circle to fill in, with all the love and joy and delight that fills our hearts to the brim.
And though the charms on the bracelet that I see are lovely, I know that's not the important part, it's the ones that are hidden, that can only be seen through the eyes of a loving heart.
