( At a Southern Baptist church in a rural community sit the parishioners, listening to the minister. They are bored; some are asleep. One woman hits her husband in the side as he begins to snore loudly. Babies cry. The young children are slumped down low in their seats, not at all interested or a part of the service. The minister tries to make the most of the service. Some are watching the clock. Few are listening intently to all that is being said and done.)
Minister: ( preaching before the large congregation of mostly adults and young children sitting at the end of each pew.) Oh, in such a time as these......( He shakes his head, takes off his glasses, and pauses, boldly going forward. ) God is judging the people, because their sins have been so great. They worship strange gods; they do not seek his face. With all of his signs, wonders, and miracles that they have evidenced in the past, yet they continue to be a stubborn people, disobedient to the call of God. Won't you come to Jesus? ( He extends his hands to the people in an invitation.) He paid it all for you. ( Begging) He died on the cross for you so that you could have life more abundantly. Come, come. There is still room at the foot of the cross for one.
Minister: ( Standing full front center before the congregation. He has left his podium and has laid his glasses on the stand. He sings the old hymn with music softly playing in the background.) There's room at the cross for one. There's room at the cross for one. Though millions have come, there's still room for one. There is room, at the cross, for one.
(The Minister is almost in tears as he earnestly extends the invitation to the people. The Minister waits and no one comes forward. After a few moments he turns his back, and slowly a young man comes forward. He is broken and totally defeated. He comes with his head bowed down low, and he is crying.)
Sinner: ( He turns full front facing the audience and congregation.) Father God, I have sinned against you. I have committed atrocities unspeakable. Please forgive me and come into my life. I want to be like a young child again. I want to live and not die. I have been so hurt emotionally, physically, sexually by those who said they loved me. I just want to come home. I want to be pure again with a child's heart.Yet, I do not know what to do next. I am only 15 years old, but I have lived the life of a man. Help me Father. Reveal to me what I need to do, and give me the strength and courage to make it a reality. ( Bitterly crying. All the children in the church sit up and really listen.)
Minister: Matthew 18. ( The minister finds it in his Holy Bible.) Will you turn to Matthew 18 in your Bible, church? ( He gives them a few moments to find the passage.) See, Matthew 18:3-14." Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea." ( The minister pauses.) Drop down a little further, and it says. "Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven. For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost. How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? And if so be that he finds it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep, than of the ninety and nine which went not astray. Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish. " ( The minister pauses at the podium, takes his glasses off, and looks at the congregation and then at the young man. Slowly, all of the young children begin to rise and say one after the other with boldness and authority to the young man.)

Minister: ( Falling on his knees before God, with hands extended to heaven, full front, center. The young man is standing at this time left of the stage. ) Thank you Father. We praise your holy name. Thank you for this great miracle. We receive the words of God. ( The minister stands, and the young children come to the young man who has asked for a word from God. They surround him and kiss and hug him one by one. The church looks on in amazement at the beauty, the majesty, and the power of the children in God's church. Amen.)
