What do you do when you can't sleep, and it's midnight?
You're tired and you want to sleep, but your mind is racing with pictures, sounds, fears, mistakes, and what if you had done it this way...
You want to shut it down or shut it completely off, but no use, you give in and just wearily get out of bed and stumble to a quiet place.
You don't want to wake up your spouse. That wouldn't be fair.
He or she has had a tough day too.
What's the matter with you? Counting sheep is not the answer. Soft music doesn't help. Warm milk is sickening. Turning on the television would wake up everyone in the house.
Just go to bed and sleep.
Wrong. It's not that easy.
You rub your eyes, scratch a part of your anatomy, climb out of bed, and tip toe out of the room.
What's in the frig?
You know you shouldn't be there. Slam!
Well, since I'm up, let me see....
What is causing me to stay up this late?
Tomorrow, you may need to get some sleeping pills if this persists.
You know you'll be less than your best.
What can you do?
Let me see again, what is causing me to lose sleep?
I have this on my mind.....
You're doubting yourself.
You are second guessing yourself.
Perhaps, I am too........... just like they said.
Maybe, I should just............
But I really feel that if I ...............
You must follow your heart!
You must be true to your instincts and do what feels right to you!
You can't go along with the crowd!
The crowd is not right for you!
Go back to bed. Pray on it.
Give it to God. He'll work it out for you.
Call on his name. Listen to his voice.
He will direct your path, and he will tell you just what to say and do. Trust God.
It will be alright.
Lean on him when you feel weak.
He will see you clear. He alone knows your strengths and weaknesses.
Follow his light, and everything will be alright.
Now, get back in the bed. Softly, hug your partner, and thank God you have someone to talk to in the midnight hour!
