Uluru from Dreamtime lay beneath the southern sky
Year by year her patient vigil keeping;
Startled in the darkness by a baby's urgent cry
And down through seven years a mother's weeping.
Uluru, reluctantly, in morning sunlight cold,
Sadly gazed upon the outraged land.
Sacrificed uncaringly to man's false gods of old,
Truth, with Justice, lay on bloodied sand.
'Kept-by-God' — the tiny child by arms of Love embraced;
Protected from the bitterness of strife.
Circling law and media their prey in menace faced;
Prowling round a grieving man and wife.
But Uluru looked back to when
Truth died before and rose again!
