As the wreaths are hung, the trees are decorated, the candy canes are placed along the sidewalks, the lights are tacked to the roof, the animated snowmen and reindeer are secured in the yards and Santa Claus is displayed EVERYWEHRE.. the real Christmas (Christ’s Birth) is often ignored or all together forgotten.
If we as a people, as a nation and as a community would take a moment...just a moment, to remember what Christmas is really about...it would most likely change the way we celebrate it.
Take for example: If we hung stars instead of wreaths, if we decorated mangers instead of trees, if we lined our sidewalks with sheep instead of candy canes, we tacked hey and straw to our roof instead of lights, we secured statues of Joseph, Mary and Baby Jesus in the yard instead of animated snowmen and reindeer. We displayed Jesus EVERYWHERE instead of Santa.
Oh what a Christmas that would be; if everyone who joined in on the secular Christmas, joined in on the True Christmas!
Bells of salvation would be ringing, the Holy Spirit would be our fire, Joy would fill the world...and finally Peace would be found on earth...right here in your community!
How I long for that White Christmas......not one of snow as many would think...but one of pure love: for the one who gives us life, Grace and forgiveness!
Merry Christmas Lord!
and
Happy Birthday!
