God commanded Adam not to eat of the tree of knowledge,
But he chose to take lessons in the Life of Hard Knocks College.
When God approached him to question him of his disobedience,
He hid behind a bush because he knew that God wouldn’t be lenient.
When God commanded him to show himself to be the man He had made him to be,
He came up with another excuse, another hiding plea;
He blamed Eve for doing as God had commanded him not to do
Saying that it was because of the woman He gave him to love so true.
Adam hid on that very first day of sin,
And it seems that his efforts continue through today’s men.
When men are confronted for something they’ve done wrong,
They begin to sing the same old sad song
Placing the blame on someone else,
Never acknowledging that he’s creating the mess himself.
They are still hiding, but not behind bushes and trees;
They are now hiding behind lies, excuses and selfish, inconsiderate pleas.
When asked why a man is unfaithful to the woman he holds true,
They excuse themselves by blaming women to be the cause of the things they do.
If he doesn’t blame it on the wife, saying she’s not fulfilling her duties and responsibilities,
He blames the women of the world, saying he is being drawn by their sexuality.
When faced with financial stress and work situations,
Man is quick to hide behind the race card with no hesitation
Saying that the world is always trying to keep the black man down
And because of his race, a good job cannot be found.
When questioned, why he doesn’t provide for his children, who need him and whom he should adore,
He hides behind the lies that the mother was a slut, hood-rat, a pure whore.
When asked why he doesn’t fulfill his role as being the head of his house as God commanded it to be,
He hides behind the excuse that, “My wife doesn’t listen to me.”
The fact of the matter is that men are still hiding just as Adam did,
But they will soon find that from God, they cannot be hid
By excuses, lies, or placing the blame on someone else
Because the reality is that for every deed, he’s got to answer for himself.
