There was a young girl walking down the hallway at school, in a crowd of people, she shyly slithered through, attempting to get to her classroom. As she approached the door to her class, she slightly bumps into another student. The student harshly says, “Hey, why don’t you watch where you are going. Who do you think you are anyway?”
The young girl murmurs excuse me and walks into her class timidly placing her books on her desk, as she goes to sit down, the books topple over. The whole class is watching as she fumbles more and more to attempt to catch the books. Her teacher blurts out, “You must settle down and not cause such a distraction. For you were already tardy. Who do you think you are anyway?”
The end of day school day approaches and it is time to go home. The young girl walks slowly, frustrated and in disgust. She ponders at the thought of another school day approaching tomorrow. She finally comes home and steps into her house, her mother in anguish says, “your room is a mess, why haven’t you cleaned it, who do you think you are?”
All through her life, she was asked this question, having her emotions turn to anger. She had built up a wall of defense.
But one day in her life, she met a friend. This friend invited her into His family, He showed her the love that she needed and restore her lost years of childhood back to her. He showed her who she was and she was no longer insulted when asked the burning question, “Who do you think that you are?”
Years had passed, and this once young girl went on with her new life. One summer she decided to return to her hometown and visit with her family. She decided to take a cab into town so that she could tour her old town. She spotted a few of her classmates and decided to stop and greet them. As she approached them boldly, not looking like the slumped over shy girl that she once was, they chuckled and said, “ What brings you back to this little old town?” She stood silently waiting for the famous old question. They looked at her as if she were a mute and they started to chuckle making fun of her as in the younger years. One of them said, “Why did you bother to stop here if you are not even going to say anything?” She continued to stare at them with a slight smile on her face. They turned away from her and started to laugh as one of them says, “Who do you think you are anyway?”
For a moment, the feeling of insult arose in her flesh, but as she remembered the time where she was alone with God, sobbing as she held a gun to her head because she felt that she wasn’t any worth and that she would be better off dead. She remembered hearing His voice telling her that she was wonderfully and fearfully made, she politely walked closer to them and the Spirit of God rose up in her and she said, “All of these years I allowed people to make me feel as though I was nothing, I walked around in offense every time that I heard those words that you just asked. But now I am going to give you the ultimate answer to a long awaited question: Who do I think I am?”
“I am a woman of God, a child of the most high God, I am blessed coming in and blessed going out. I am created and perfected in His image. I am the head and not the tail, above and not below. I am created in His righteousness, wonderfully and fearfully made. I am chosen, loved, adored. I am a joint heir with Christ. I am a virtuous woman, a woman of noble character, I am anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and thanksgiving I let my requests be made known to God and the peace of God that surpasses all understanding guards my heart and mind through Christ Jesus and finally, my love abounds still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that I approve the things that are excellent, and be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ. I take no offense because I am finally free!”
