Dear Lord,
As another day slips
From my future
You spread your joy
Over threatening clouds
Like an invisible sheath;
And no matter how hard
Rain falls or winds blow
You show me
The silver lining
Of Your words.
But how can my lips
Form grateful words?
How can my hands clap
To say what my life
Does not say?
How can my feet walk
To reflect the good
You place in my life?
I do not know
But my soul longs
To worship you.
Even my thoughts remain
In the shadows
To make room
For praising your name.
But my praise is small,
My words are weak.
My hands still wander
From Your will.
Yet Your love goes
Underneath my deeds,
Wrap them together
In Your Son’s blood
And I cannot find my sin.
You lift my soul
And there I find a song
Of true worship
Ringing in the silence.
Even the storm cannot go
Where my soul resides.
Only You place my heart
Close to your bosom
And I become a new creature.
